Increase i purlwise

This increase can be worked anywhere on a row and involves purling into a stitch twice in order to make an extra stitch.

2 Keeping the original stitch on the left needle and the yarn at the back of the work, knit into the back of the stitch -you have now increased l stitch. Slip the stitch from the left needle.

2 Keeping the original stitch on the left needle and the yarn at the front of the work, purl into the back of the stitch -you have now increased l stitch. Slip the stitch from the left needle.

2 Lift this bar and slip it onto the left needle. Knit into the back of this loop to create a new stitch, slipping the lifted loop off the left needle when you have finished.

2 Now insert the right needle into the front of the loop and knit the stitch. You have now made 2 new stitches. Slip the loop off the left needle.

1 Work to the point in the pattern where you need to increase. Insert the tip of the right needle between the first and second stitches on the left needle.

1 Repeat steps 1 and 2 of make 1 knitwise but do not slip the lifted loop off the left needle at the end.
