Joining a new colour

1 Insert the right needle into the next stitch on the left needle. Making sure the tail end of the first colour (pink) is on the left, place the new yarn (green) over the first yarn and between the two needles.

Changing colours on a knit row

Work to where you need to change colour. Insert the tip of the right needle into the next stitch knitwise. Bring the first colour (pink) over the top of the second colour (yellow) and drop. Now pick up the second colour. Making sure the colours stay twisted, continue as directed by the pattern.

2 Catch in the unused yarn (pink) on every other row by lying it across the yam currently in use (orange) before working the first stitch of the new row.

2 Bring the new yarn up from under the first yarn and work the next stitch, moving the tail end off the needle as you go.

l Insert the right needle into the first stitch. Lay the second yarn (orange) across the first yarn (pink) and work the next stitch with the second yarn.
