Knit and purl

All knitted fabrics, no matter how complicated or simple, are based on two stitches: knit and purl. Always hold the yarn at the back of the work for a knit stitch and at the front of the work for a purl stitch unless instructed otherwise in the pattern (yb indicates that you should take the yam to the back of the work, y f indicates that you should bring the yarn to the front of the work).

l Insert the tip of the right needle into the stitch on the left needle from back to front.
