Using beige begin at one side of foot and cast on 20 sts.

Work in g-st throughout.

* Work 1 row. then dec 1 st at each end of next 3 rows — 14 sts.

Work 1 row. then inc 1 st at each end of next 3 rows — 20 sts *★.

Work 1 row. then cast off.

Fold the foot in half, then oversew the shaped row ends together. Oversew across cast on sts. Stuff foot very lightly, then oversew across cast off sts. Pin the folded edges of feet to lower front of body, so that they are pointing away from each other as shown in the illustration. Check that the feet are in the correct position to make the owl balance upright. Sew folded edges of feet to body.

Begin at outer edge and using white cast on 27 sts. St-st 2 rows.

Next row: (K2tog) to end — 9 sts. B & T tightly.

Oversew row ends together. Use black yarn to work a chain stitch just to the left of the gathered centre of one eye. Work another chain stitch on top of the first stitch to make a larger pupil. Work the chain stitches on the other eye to the right of the gathered centre. Pin the eyes to the head so that they touch at centre of face, with lower edges seven knitted rows above the last knitted row on the body. Make sure that the black chain stitches are closest to each other. Sew eyes in place.
