Head

Begin at nose-end and using fawn cast on 5 sts.

1st row: Inc K wise into every st — 10 sts. P 1 row.

Continue in st-st and inc 1 st at each end of next and every following row until there are 26 sts.

Shape back of head

Next row: K5, K2tog, K12, K2tog. K5 — 24 sts. P 1 row.

Next row: (P2tog) to end — 8 sts. B & T tightly.

Join row ends and across cast on sts. leaving a gap at centre of the seam. This seam will run underneath the head. Turn right side out and stuff firmly. Do not close gap in seam.

Mark eye positions, six knitted rows above end of snout and leaving two clear knitted sts between them. Using single lengths of black yarn, make knots for eyes, winding yarn round four times. Pass one yarn end through marked position to opening in seam. Pass other end through, just above first position. Knot yarn ends very tightly and trim off ends. Repeat with other eye. Add a little more stuffing, then oversew to close gap in seam.

Place head on neck edge of body and sew cast off edge of body to head.

Ears [make two alike]

Using fawn, cast on 10 sts and K 1 row.

Next row: (P2tog) to end — 5 sts. B & T tightly. Gather along both sets of row ends, pull up tightly and fasten off.

Sew ears to sides of head, except for the Autumn mouse.

Arms [make two alike]

Begin at top of arm and using colour required for sleeve cast on 4 sts.

1st row: Inc K wise into every st — 8 sts. Beginning with a P row, st-st 12 rows.

Next row: P2, (P2tog) twice. P2 — 6 sts. Break off yarn and join on fawn for hand. St-st 4 rows.

Next row: (K2tog) to end — 3 sts. B & T tightly.

Oversew row ends together, leaving a gap in seam near to top of sleeve. Oversew across cast on sts. Turn right side out and stuff. Oversew gap in seam.

For each sleeve cuff (make two], use colour required and cast on 10 sts. Cast off. Oversew row ends together, then sew round lower edge of sleeve.

Sew tops of arms to sides of bodice just below neck, with sleeve seams against bodice.
