to make Lay the bag flat onto the lining fabric and use as a template to cut the lining, up allowing an extra 1.5cm/%in of fabric all around. Make up the knitted bag by joining the side seams from the cast-on/cast-off edges down to the base shaping. Sew cast-off/cast-on edges of base shaping to row ends of base. Make up lining in the same way. Sew 3cm/11^in of each end of the handle strips to the inside of the front and the back of the bag. Cut the polythene tubing into two 30cm/12in lengths and make a 2cm/3/in diagonal cut across each end of the two pieces. Make 2 holes in each end of the tubing pieces and use these to stitch the tubing to the inside of the bag where the handles have been attached. Fold the handles around the tubing and stitch the seam. Insert the lining into the bag and slipstitch around the top edge, so hiding the ends of the handles.
