Chain cable

A chain panel (shown in Figure 11-6) consists of 14 stitches; the cable itself is 8 stitches wide.

Work this cable as follows: Cast on 14 sts.

Rows 1 and 5 (RS): P3, k8, p3. Rows 2, 4, 6, and 8: K3, p8, k3.

Row 3: P3, sl next 2 sts to cn and hold in back, k2, k2 from cn, sl next 2 sts to cn and hold in front, k2, k2 from cn, p3.

Row 7: P3, sl next 2 sts to cn and hold in front, k2, k2 from cn, sl next 2 sts to cn and hold in back, k2, k2 from cn, p3.

Did you notice that a chain cable is just two wave cables waving in opposite directions and lined up side by side?
