Bind cast off in pattern

You should always bind (cast) off in the same stitch that you are using for the main fabric. On a knit row, you knit all the stitches when you bind (cast) off and on a purl row you purl all the stitches when you bind (cast) off.To cast off in rib, you must knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches of the rib. If you are working a pattern of cable stitches or lace, you would bind (cast) off m pattern; again knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches.
