To shape knitting, stitches are increased or decreased. Increases are used to make a piece of knitting wider by adding more stitches, either on the ends of rows or within the knitting. Some increases are worked to be invisible whilst others are meant to be seen and are known as decorative increases. You can increase one stitch at a time or two or more.
stitch as usual, do not slip the stitch off the left-hand needle but knit into it again through the back of the loop. Then slip the original stitch off the left-hand needle.
