Acorn Pattern

This is an old English pattern that makes a handsome novelty fabric.

Multiple of 10 sts plus 2.

Row 1 (Right side-preparation row)—Kl, p3, k4, * p6, k4; rep from *, end p3, kl.

Row 3—Kl, pi, * si next 2 sts to dpn and hold in back, k2, then p2 from dpn (Back Cross, BC); insert needle under running thread between st just worked and the next st, and (kl, pi) into this thread; si next 2 sts to dpn and hold in front, p2, then k2 from dpn (Front Cross, FC); p2; rep from * to last 2 sts, end last repeat pi, kl.

Row 5—Kl, pi, * k2, p2; rep from *, end k2, pi, kl.

Row 8—Kl, p2, k6, * p4, k6; rep from *, end p2, kl.

Row 9—Kl, insert needle under running thread and knit once into this thread, * FC, p2, BC, (kl, pi) into running thread; rep from *, end FC, p2, BC, knit once into running thread, kl.

Rows 10 and 12—Kl, pi, * k2, p2; rep from *, end k2, pi, kl.

Row 13—Kl, p3, * k2 tog, k2, ssk, p6; rep from *, end k2 tog, k2, ssk, p3, kl.

Omit Row 1, Repeat Rows 2-13.
