Lace Cable or Germaine Stitch

This pattern is ideal for the knitter who wants to use a dainty openwork but likes to work a few cables into everything. The lace portion of the pattern is recognizable as Little Arrowhead. The same combination comes out equally well with the larger-patterned Arrowhead Lace: simple cables worked in between the lace panels.

Multiple of 11 sts plus 7.

Row 1 (Wrong side) and all other wrong-side rows—Purl. Row 2—Kl, * yo, ssk, kl, k2 tog, yo, k6; rep from * to last 6

sts, end yo, ssk, kl, k2 tog, yo, kl. Row 4—K2, * yo, si 1—k2 tog—psso, yo, kl, si next 3 sts to dpn and hold in back, k3, then k3 from dpn, kl; rep from * to last 5 sts, end yo, si 1—k2 tog—psso, yo, k2. Row 6—Repeat Row 2.

Row 8—K2, * yo, si 1—k2 tog—psso, yo, k8; rep from * to last 5 sts, end yo, si 1—k2 tog—psso, yo, k2.

Repeat Rows 1-8.
