Many of the designs in the book were planned as gift ideas. A new baby is a great incentive to begin knitting, or it can act as the catalyst to return to the craft. I have included very easy patterns that are ideal for the novice knitter, such as the super-easy Blanket and Hat and the Cat, Rabbit, and Teddy Bear toys. More traditional gift ideas include the hats and booties ensembles.
I designed the multicolored square Cot Blanket with the idea that a group of friends, family members, or a knitting group could make the project together, with each knitter making a square in a different color. When alJ the squares are completed, they can then be sewn together and presented at a baby shower, a beautiful way of showing your love and creating an heirloom to pass on for many generations.
