Here is an easy-to-work and interesting lace based on the classic-Openwork Diamonds. In this case the diamonds are elongated into rectangular blocks laid diagonally like fancy Flemish brickwork.

Multiple of 14 sts plus 3.

Row 1 (Wrong side) and all other wrong-side rows—Purl. Row 2 K2. * k2 tog, yo, kl, yo, ssk. k3, k2 tog, yo, k4; rep from *, end k I.

Row 4 — Kl, * k2 tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, kl. k2 tog, yo, kl: rep from *, end k2.

Row 6—K2 tog, yo, * k5, yo, si I—k2 tog—psso, yo, k4, k2 tog, yo; rep from *. end kl. Row 8—K2, * yo, ssk, k4. yo, ssk, k3, k2 tog, yo, kl: rep from *, end k 1.

Row 10—K3, * yo, ssk, k4, yo, ssk, kl, k2 log, yo. k3; rep from *. Row 12—K4, * yo, ssk, k4, yo, k3 log, yo, k5; rep from *, end last repeat k4.

Repeat Rows 1-12.
