Gate Pattern

Leona Hughes Sarasota

Contributed by Leona Hughes, Sarasota, Florida

Like Pilscner Pleating, this pattern combines purl blocks with knit blocks that are traversed by diagonal yo's. But the arrangement is reversed, to form a flat (non-pleating) fabric with a checked effect, and the motifs are square rather than triangular. The pattern is easy to work, and attractive in sweaters, blouses, baby blankets, or dresses.

Multiple of 10 sts plus 2.
