Pierced Diamond Pattern

In this version of ihe Diamond, (he leftward-slanting decreases are cleverly arranged to give a diagonal line, as in some of the Madeira laces. This method gives a beautiful small-patterned lace that is novel, yet just as easy to work as the more common types.

Multiple of 6 sts plus 3.

Row 1 (Wrong side) and all other wrong-side rows—Purl. Row 2—Kl, * yo, ssk, kl, yo, k2 tog, kl; rep from *, end yo, ssk.

Row 4—K2, * yo, ssk, kl, k2 tog, yo, kl; rep from *, end kl. Row 6—K3, * yo, si 1—k2 tog—psso, yo, k3; rep from *. Row 8—Kl, * yo, k2 tog, kl, yo, ssk, kl; rep from *, end yo, k2 tog.

Row 10—K2, * k2 tog, yo, kl, yo, ssk, kl; rep from *, end kl. Row 12—Kl, k2 tog, yo, * k3, yo, si 1—k2 tog—psso, yo; rep from *, end k3, yo, ssk, kl.

Repeat Rows 1-12.
