Cuff: Work k3, p3 ribbing for 9 rnds. Purl 1 rnd. Rep the last 10 rnds 2 more times, then work 9 rnds of k3, p3 ribbing once more. Next md: Purl, inc 1 st each on needles 2 and 3, and at the end of the rnd redistribute sts by purling the first 2 sts from needle 1 onto the end of needle 3—80 sts; 28 sts on needle 1, 25 sis on needle 2, and 27 sts on needle 3. Reposition marker at end of last rnd—piece should measure about 3'/" (9 cm) from beg. Leg: Work lozenge patt as foil: Rnd 1: *K9, pi; rep from * (the last purl st of each rnd is the "seam" st and is always purled).

Rnd 2: *P1,1<7, pi, kl; rep from * to last 10 sts, pi, k7, p2.

Rnd 3: Kl, *pl, k5, pi, k3; rep from * to last 9 sts, pi, k5, pi, kl, pi. Rnd 4: K2, *pl, k3, pi, k5; rep from * to last 8 sts, pi, k3, pi, k2, pi. Rnd 5: K3, *pl, kl, pi, k7; rep from * to last 7 sts, pi, kl, pi, k3, pi. Rnd 6: K4, *pl, k9; rep from * to last 6 sts, pl,k4,pl.
