With yarn doubled, CO 72 sis onto 1 needle. Divide sts evenly on 3 needles (24 sis each needle). Join for working in the rnd, being careful not to twist sts, and place marker (pm) after first st to denote beg of rnd. Cut off extra strand of yarn; cont with single strand.

Rnds 1-15: *K2, p2; rep from *—piece should measure about 1'/+" (3.2 cm) from beg after completing Rnd 15. Rnd 16: Knit Rnds 17 and 18: Purl. Rnd 19: Knit.
