Purl into the Front and Back of a Stitch

O Purl the stitch as normal, but do not remove the completed stitch from the left needle.

2 Swing the right needle tip around so that it is behind the left needle tip. Insert the right needle tip into the back loop of the purl stitch, from left to right.

3 Wrap the working yarn around the right needle tip counterclockwise and pull the new stitch through the existing stitch.

4 Pull the completed stitch from the left needle to complete the increase— 2 purl stitches have been created out of 1 stitch.
