C4F is an abbreviation for a right-leaning cable, which is worked over a total of 4 stitches.
O Work to the point of the cable. Slip the next 2 stitches purlwise, but with the yarn in back, to a cable needle.
2 Hold the cable needle in front of the main work and needles.
3 Knit the next 2 stitches on the left needle.
4 Knit the 2 slipped stitches that are on the cable needle. Depending on the type of cable needle, you might find it easier to slip these stitches back to the left needle before knitting them.
Cables come in different types and orientations. Whenever a pattern uses a cable abbreviation, a key or listing in the pattern notes explains how to perform the cable.
