DECREASE FOR THE GUSSET

O Round 1:

Needle 1: K to last 3 sts of needle, k2tog, k1.

Needles 2 and 3: Work in Garter Rib patt over 36 (38, 40, 44) instep sts as established.

3 Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until 72 (76, 80, 88) sts rem.

4 Continue even, maintaining Garter Rib patt for instep and St st for sole, until foot measures 8 (8, 8.5, 9) inches from back of heel, or 2 (2.25, 2.25, 2.5) inches less than desired total foot length.

SHAPE SWIRL TOE

O Round 1: * K1, ssk, k to end of needle *, rep from * to * for each needle.

3 Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until 36 (40, 40, 44) sts rem.

4 Repeat Round 1 only until 16 (16, 16, 16) sts rem.

For mirror image on second sock, work Swirl Toe as follows:

O Round 1: * K to last 3 sts on needle, k2tog, k1 *, rep from * to * for each needle.

3 Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until 36 (40, 40, 44) sts rem.

4 Repeat Round 1 only until 16 (16, 16, 16) sts rem. FINISHING

O Graft toe using Kitchener st. 2 Weave in ends and block.

The cabled cuff of these top-down socks is knit flat as a rectangular piece, then grafted into a ring for the cuff. Stitches are then picked up from the edge of the cuff for the rest of the sock, which features a garter stitch short-row heel and garter stitch toe.

Custom Sizing: You can work cabled cuff band to any length to fit around your calf. Pick up sts around cuff in a multiple of 4 to work leg and foot.
