4 Using a fourth needle, pick up and knit the number of sts specified for your size and gauge in Table 9 along the left side of the heel flap. Then, using the same needle, knit across the first half of the heel sts to marker. (These picked-up sts and heel sts will be on needle #3.) You should now have all sts on three needles, ready to begin first rnd of foot; the third column of Table 9 shows how many stitches you should have in all at this point.

Note: You should have the same number of sts (one-quarter the total number of sts) on needles #I and #3 and half the stitches on needle #1.
