1 When your bag is completely dry, make a buttonhole by cutting a slit on one side of the bag at the base of the handle strap-about 1V2 inches below where the shaping begins-that is about 'A inch shorter than the diameter of your button.
2 Finish the buttonhole using buttonhole stitch in contrasting yarn. (See page 261 for directions on finishing a buttonhole with buttonhole stitch.)
3 Sew the button on the inside of the opposite handle to correspond with the buttonhole.
