Finish Coat

1 Sew sleeve seams and side seams. (For information on seams, see pages 163 and 253-256.)

Note: You can leave an opening slit at the side seams 3 inches up from cast-on edge at hem, if desired.

2 Lightly steam seams, if yarn's care instructions allow.

3 Sew pockets to fronts, with lower edges 4 inches up from hem and pocket sides 1 inch in from side seams, following the instructions on page 214.

4 Work left front edging: With RS facing and beg at neck edge, use crochet hook to work one row of sc down to hem. Ch1, turn, and work another row of sc back up to neck edge.

5 Cut yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail, pull through last loop, and secure.

6 Place markers (pm) for button loops on right front 'A inch down from neck edge, 7 inches up from CO edge at hem, and 3 more evenly spaced between.

7 Work right front edging: With RS facing and beg at lower-right front edge, use crochet hook to *sc up to within h inch of next marker, ch for 1 inch, insert hook back into right front 1 inch from beg of ch so that it lies flush with edge; rep from * 4 times, sc1 at neck edge. Ch1, turn, and work sc along edge and loops back down to hem.

8 Cut yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail, pull through last loop, and secure.

9 Work 2 rows of sc around collar ends and BO edge, sc3 at corners in the 1st row and sc2 into center sc at corners in the 2nd row.

  • Weave in rem ends.
  • Steam crochet edgings, if your yarn's care instructions allow.
  • Sew buttons opposite button loops.
